Dr. Julita Peniston, Counselling Team Leader

Dr. Julita Peniston received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communication from Towson State University and her Master of Social Work Degree from Fordham University. In 2026, Dr. Peniston completed her Doctorate of Social Work (DSW) at Simmons University with a focus on leadership, teaching, and clinical practice in the field of social work. Dr. Peniston was selected as the Spring 2026 recipient of Simmons University’s DSW Program DEIPAR Award. This award recognizes a graduating student for social justice and innovation in social work, particularly work that reflects DEIPAR principles (diversity, equity, inclusion, intersectionality, power analysis, and antiracism) and demonstrates the potential to create meaningful change in the profession.

 

Dr. Peniston is a lifelong scholar-practitioner and a critical-thinking change agent, and in her role as the Counselling Team Leader at the Employee Assistance Programme Bermuda, she provides counseling services, mediation, group processes, clinical supervision, and training.

 

Dr. Peniston is an Internationally Credentialed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Clinical Social Work Supervisor in Florida with over a decade of evidence-based, client-centered experience for individuals, families, and groups. She specializes in clinical social work, complex trauma, addiction disorders, and family therapy with a keen interest in therapeutic approaches, awareness and education focusing on intimate partner violence.

 

She is also active in her community, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and is the Duperreault Fellowship Chairperson.
